A detail of the funerary mask of King Psusennes I who reigned circa 1040-992 BCE during the 21st Dynasty of the Third Intermediate Period.
It is made of thin sheets of finely chased gold inlaid with lapis lazuli, and black and white glass paste.
The mask was found in the king's tomb in Tanis (modern-day San el-Hagar) in Lower Egypt and was placed directly upon his mummy.
This priceless artifact is now in the "Museum of Egyptian Antiquities", Cairo, Egypt.
